Amazon Affiliate Integration

Affiliate ID: greybeardhold-20

Strategy

For MVP, Amazon serves as the initial product source. This lets us prove the curation concept without negotiating vendor relationships.

How It Works

  1. Products are manually curated from Amazon by the founder
  2. Each product link includes the Amazon affiliate tag ?tag=greybeardhold-20
  3. When customers keep items, WardrobeAI earns a commission (2-4% of sale)
  4. Commission data helps validate the business model

Configuration

Environment variable:

AMAZON_ASSOCIATE_ID=greybeardhold-20

Affiliate links in database:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/PRODUCT_ASIN?tag=greybeardhold-20
  • All Amazon URLs now include ?tag=greybeardhold-20
  • Affiliate ID is configurable via environment variable
  • See issue #35

Vendor Transition Plan

Phase 1: Amazon-Only (MVP — Now)

  • All products sourced from Amazon
  • Manual curation by founder
  • Affiliate commission revenue
  • Proves curation engine works

Phase 2: Hybrid (Amazon + Boutique — Phase 2-3)

  • Add 5-10 boutique vendors
  • Amazon fills gaps in inventory
  • Compare customer satisfaction between sources
  • Build vendor relationships

Phase 3: Boutique-First (Phase 3+)

  • Primary sourcing from small businesses
  • Amazon as fallback only
  • Direct wholesale relationships
  • Better margins, unique products
  • Vendor portal for designers

Phase 4: AI Design-on-Demand

  • Custom manufacturing
  • No retail markup
  • Full margin capture
  • Unique designs no one else has
