Objective

Identify and document 10-20 potential first vendor partners for WardrobeAI. These are the small businesses and boutique brands we'd source from in Phase 0-1.

Vendor Categories Needed

Women's Clothing (Essential)

  • Casual tops and blouses
  • Pants and jeans
  • Dresses (casual + work)
  • Cardigans, sweaters, layers
  • Basics (tanks, tees, leggings)

Accessories (Add-ons)

  • Shoes (flats, sneakers, casual boots)
  • Handbags and totes
  • Jewelry (earrings, necklaces, bracelets)
  • Watches
  • Belts, scarves, hats

Candidate Vendor Sources

Wholesale Marketplaces (access to many brands)

  1. FashionGo — 1000+ boutique brands, LA-based, no MOQ on most items. Brands include Balboa Fashion, Daisy Dunes, Ginger Blue.
  2. JOOR — 14K+ brands, 600K+ buyers, B2B wholesale platform. More premium/contemporary brands.
  3. Bloom Wholesale — LA-based, made-in-USA women's boutique apparel.
  4. Tasha Apparel — Fast fashion wholesale, lowest prices.
  5. Trendsi — Curated wholesale marketplace for boutiques, Shopify integration.

Direct Small Brands to Research

Must research and evaluate these categories:

  • Etsy top sellers (women's clothing, 500+ reviews, US-based)
  • Instagram small brands (10K-100K followers, strong engagement)
  • Sustainable/ethical fashion brands (Reformation-adjacent but smaller)
  • Black-owned and minority-owned fashion brands
  • Plus-size inclusive small brands
  • Made-in-USA manufacturers

Manufacturing Partners (for design-on-demand, Phase 3)

  1. TEG — LA-based, small batch from 10 pieces, sustainable focus
  2. ARGYLE Haus — LA, 50-1000 pieces
  3. Appareify — Low MOQ, custom manufacturing
  4. NoName — Low MOQ USA manufacturing
  5. Fabriclore — Custom printing + private label

Vendor Evaluation Criteria

For each potential vendor, score on:

  • Return policy (critical for Phase 1): free returns? window? restocking fee?
  • Wholesale pricing: margin available at our price points
  • Sizing accuracy: do they have detailed size charts? Known fit quirks?
  • Fulfillment speed: 3-5 day shipping feasible?
  • Quality: sample review required
  • Brand story: is it compelling for our "designer spotlight" content?
  • Inventory availability: seasonal or year-round?
  • Minimum order: can we order 1-3 pieces per style? Or is there a 10+ MOQ?
  • Dropship capability: can they ship direct to customer? (Reduces our logistics burden)
