Replace recursive tree walks in the export template (sortChildren, mapNodes,
markActive) with iterative traversals, and build getPath with push + reverse.
closes#11225
Render the leading system message as the system prompt and tool list,
and later system messages as named section and tool updates. The header
prompt/tools from agent state remain as a fallback for sessions without
system entries. CLI --export now shows the prompt and tools too (#3464).

Use authoritative OpenRouter billing for Chat Completions and Anthropic Messages while retaining catalog component estimates and fallback behavior.
Fixes#9980
pi-ai's AssistantMessageEventStream sets AssistantMessage.durationMs with a
monotonic clock for every API implementation. The agent loop and the durable
tool task set ToolResultMessage.durationMs around execute(). Durable task
records carry startedAt/endedAt stamped by the Session. The coding agent's bash
renderer shows Took from the recorded duration, also after a reload.
closes#10549
Add pi.registerToolRenderer((toolName, next) => renderers), which chooses the
renderers for calls to any tool, including tools that are not registered.
Resolvers run in extension load order; next() returns what the remaining
resolvers, then the registered tool, would use. Interactive mode and HTML
export both resolve through it.
The MCP extension uses it to render every mcp__<server>__<tool> call with the
MCP renderers, so calls in a resumed session no longer render fully expanded
before their server connects, or for good if it never does.
closes#10285
This adds codemode and MCP support to pi. Codemode (packages/codemode) runs
model-written JavaScript in a QuickJS wasm VM inside a worker. From there the
script calls pi's tools as async functions, uses a per-session store, and can
read the model catalog and run classifiers. The codemode tool in coding-agent
is compatible with Codex's exec tool, and codemode.mode works like Codex's
tool modes (on or only). Large results are written to a JSON temp file. MCP
(packages/mcp) is a standalone client for stdio and streamable HTTP servers,
with OAuth.
The core only gets general mechanisms; codemode, tool_search and MCP are
built-in extensions that use them. Other extensions can replace these
built-ins. Tools declare an exposure: direct, model-only, codemode, deferred
or hidden. prepareLoadout() lets an orchestrating tool change which tool
declarations the model sees. ctx.executeTool() runs nested calls through
validation and the tool_call/tool_result hooks. Those calls emit events with
parentToolCallId and are recorded as bounded nestedCalls on the parent
result, which compaction and HTML export use. Tools can also return
structuredContent with an outputSchema, and can report errors with isError
instead of throwing. MCP servers come from mcp.json (global, or per project
after the project is trusted) or from pi.registerMcpServer(). They are
managed with /mcp and pi mcp list|login|logout, and their runtimes load on
first use.
Closes#10040
Make SessionManager projections authoritative for provider requests, add append-only context edits and actionable turn boundaries, and preserve existing queue scheduling during continuation and recovery.
Skill slash commands store a structural <skill>...</skill> wrapper in raw
user messages. The TUI uses parseSkillBlock() to split this into separate
SkillInvocationMessageComponent and UserMessageComponent siblings, but the
HTML export renderer passed the full raw text through markdown, causing
broken/dangling XML tags to appear in exported HTML.
Add parseSkillBlock() to the export template and render skill-invocation
and user-message as separate sibling blocks:
- Sidebar tree shows skill name + user prompt separately
- Content area shows a clickable skill-invocation block (collapsed by
default, markdown content on expand) followed by the user message
- Copy-link button preserved on the wrapper element
- Toggle tools (O key) expands/collapses skill invocations alongside
compaction and tool output blocks
marked v15 does not filter dangerous URL protocols. The default link
renderer passes href values through verbatim, so markdown like
`[click](javascript:alert(1))` renders as a clickable XSS link in
shared/exported session HTML.
Add custom link and image renderers that:
- Block javascript:, vbscript:, and data: protocol URLs
- Escape href/title/alt attributes via escapeHtml()
Also escape img.mimeType in session image rendering to prevent
attribute breakout from crafted session JSONL.
Fixes#3531
Rename BUILTIN_TOOLS to TEMPLATE_RENDERED_TOOLS to match what the set
actually represents: tools rendered directly by the HTML template instead of
pre-rendered through the TUI→ANSI→HTML pipeline.
Move grep and find off the template-rendered exclusion path so they use their
existing TUI renderCall/renderResult output in HTML export.
Add a dedicated HTML renderer for ls and keep it in the template-rendered set.
Unlike grep and find, rendering ls through the terminal-oriented Text component
introduced spacing artifacts in exported HTML due to full-width line padding,
so ls is rendered natively in the export template instead.
Include tool parameter names, types, descriptions in a collapsible
section under each tool in the export HTML. Also adds parameters to
pi.getAllTools() return value.

HTML div elements collapse whitespace by default, stripping leading
spaces from ANSI-rendered tool output (e.g. JSON code blocks).
Added white-space: pre-wrap to .ansi-line class.
* fix(coding-agent): HTML export sidebar click scrolls instead of truncating branch
Previously, clicking a message in the sidebar tree would set that message
as the new leaf, causing getPath() to only return messages up to that point
and hiding all messages below it.
Now handleTreeNodeClick() checks if the clicked entry is on the current path:
- If yes: just scrolls to it without re-rendering
- If no: finds the actual leaf of that branch and navigates to it, then
scrolls to the clicked message
Added childrenMap for parent->children lookup and findBranchLeaf() to
traverse down to a branch's leaf.
- If yes: scrolls to it and updates the active marker
- If no: finds the branch's leaf, navigates to it, then scrolls to clicked message
Adds currentTargetId to track the selected entry separately from currentLeafId
(which branch to display), so the active marker follows user selection.
* most recent path wins
* reuse method
* revert
* feat(coding-agent): highlight active path in HTML export sidebar
- Add subtle accent background tint to in-path nodes
- Dim off-path nodes to 50% opacity (restore on hover)
- Makes current branch visually distinct in tree navigation
* docs(coding-agent): move changelog entry to Unreleased and add attribution
* chore(coding-agent): remove dead code and fix changelog attribution
- Remove unused childrenMap, findBranchLeaf, handleTreeNodeClick, scrollToEntry
- Split changelog entry: navigation (#853 by @mitsuhiko), highlighting (#929 by @hewliyang)
- align Codex Responses provider with Pi static instructions
- simplify Codex request/stream handling and cleanup exports
- keep legacy OpenCode Codex prompt for testing until Pi prompt is allowlisted
