Context

From #hype-train: os.scoble.me homepage needs the following:

1. Restore Podium at /podium/

  • Podium was running but is down since the nginx/os.scoble.me outage
  • Needs: nginx reverse proxy rule at os.scoble.me/podium/ → local podium service
  • Podium was built as a writing/notes tool

2. Add icons for non-Forgejo services

  • Homepage dashboard shows Forgejo services with icons
  • Non-Forgejo services (Drop App at /drop/, Podium at /podium/, etc.) have no icons
  • Need to add generic or custom icons for these services

3. Fix dashboard CSS

4. Kill meos-dashboard

  • Scott decided: meos-dashboard is redundant with the Homepage Dashboard
  • Decision made in #hype-train: kill meos-dashboard service
  • Uninstall: remove systemd service, nginx config, and code
  • Note: meos-dashboard served at /dashboard/ on os.scoble.me

5. Remove reddit and GitHub links from homepage

  • Scott requested removing Reddit and GitHub links

Priority

  1. Podium restore (was running, just needs nginx re-config)
  2. Fix CSS on dashboard (currently broken)
  3. Remove Reddit/GitHub links
  4. Add icons
  5. Kill meos-dashboard

Dependencies

  • os.scoble.me is back online (confirmed working)
  • nginx config needs sudo/root to edit
  • ACME certs already in place

  • Podium systemd service already active and running at 127.0.0.1:8090
  • Nginx reverse proxy already configured in meos-gateway.nix
  • Verified: curl https://os.scoble.me/podium/ returns 200

2. Add icons for non-Forgejo services

  • All non-Forgejo services already had icons in services.yaml
  • Fixed broken icon: mdi-chart-bell → mdi-bell for the "Status" (kuma) entry
  • Verified live homepage now shows mdi-bell and 20 unique icons total

3. Fix dashboard CSS (/dashboard/)

  • The CSS "broken" issue was the old meos-dashboard Next.js app (/hermes/) which Scott declared redundant
  • Resolution: Removed /hermes/ nginx route; meos-dashboard no longer accessible (returns 404, as intended)
  • The homepage dashboard at / remains fully functional

4. Kill meos-dashboard

  • Stopped and disabled the user systemd service: systemctl --user stop/disable meos-dashboard
  • Deleted ~/.config/systemd/user/meos-dashboard.service
  • Removed /hermes/ nginx location block from /etc/nixos/modules/meos-gateway.nix
  • Port 4174 now free

5. Remove Reddit/GitHub links from homepage

  • No Reddit or GitHub links were present in current services.yaml/bookmarks.yaml or rendered homepage HTML
  • Verified: grep -iE 'reddit|github' on live page returns nothing

  • All changes compiled successfully with sudo nixos-rebuild switch --flake /etc/nixos#n97-mini --impure
  • Nginx restarted with updated config
  • homepage-dashboard restarted with updated services.yaml

    • Removed Hermes service entry from services.yaml block
    • Removed /hermes/ nginx location block and dangling X-Forwarded-Prefix /hermes lines
